ABSTRACT

Some members of the theater staff are also members of the production artistic staff. This chapter introduces several of the positions that a stage manager is most likely to interact with. They are producer, artistic director (AD), production manager (PM), technical director (TD), costume shop supervisor/manager and scene shop supervisor. The chapter describes some of the production artistic staffs. They are director, design team, scenographer, scenic designer, costume designer, properties (props) master/designer, lighting designer, sound designer and projection designer. The chapter explains some rooms and important features of the theater. They are stage, scene shop, costume shop, dressing rooms, booth, callboard, rehearsal space and prop and costume storage. Typically stage managers will be assigned a ring of keys or a key card to allow access to all necessary spaces. General maintenance of the space also falls under the stage manager's job description in many theaters.
