ABSTRACT

Errorless (EL) learning as a principle has been quite influential in the rehabilitation of adults and older adults, as reflected in the many papers investigating its effectiveness in a range of neurological populations. There are also several studies involving use of EL learning with children presenting with developmental amnesia. This chapter reviews the application of EL principles in children with neurodevelopmental disability and brain injury. Neurodevelopmental disability is a broad classification that comprises multiple conditions, several of which have been included in investigations of EL learning. These conditions include learning disability, intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, conduct disorder, down syndrome, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. There are two general domains in which EL principles have been applied in the rehabilitation of children with acquired brain injury: behavioural intervention and memory enhancement.
