ABSTRACT

In time, the transcriptions were being completed, and analyses could begin. As has been mentioned above, at the onset of analysis it was not known what phenomena would prove to be the focus of the analysis. The discovery of these phenomena was, of course, a major goal of this study. (The development of methodology was another.) This prediscovery phase is built into the very nature of exploratory studies. It is, for investigators, the dark before the dawn, but in a special universe in which the dawn does not necessarily occur.
