ABSTRACT

The author was born a reader, it seems, surrounded by books, with free choice and plenty of time to read under her covers with a flashlight. She shape the reading lives of her future generations of children through the small decisions and choices she make every single day in her learning community together. Teaching literacy offers us one of the greatest opportunities to not just get to know our students, but also to help them become the human being they hope to be. In their reading experiences, the teachers can help students discover who they are and who they want to be. The teachers can create incredible learning experiences for the students that will transform their reading identities, but to do so they must start to look at the components that the teacher's use that may harm their love of reading.
