News Flash: God’s Not Dead (and Neither is the Goddess!)

Once upon a time, many say, society was religious. Now, unfortunately, somewould say, it is secular. Once religion informed and shaped all parts of ourlives-education, family life, work, politics, and health care were all infused with religious meaning. Now, the story goes, religion is confined to Sunday morning and we largely forget our religion the rest of the week. Purported evidence of this decline abounds. More people used to attend religious services regularly. More people used to believe in and practice their particular religion’s teaching every day. And, most importantly, religious organizations and leaders enjoyed a high level of respect and authority within communities. In short, the past, it is assumed, was a “Golden Age of Faith.”
