ABSTRACT

Teachers have a multitude of subjects to teach in the primary classroom-everything from language arts to visual arts, science to social studies, and math to music. Teachers need to ensure that their curriculum reflects the school’s curricular guidelines, which in turn are based on district and state standards in each and every subject. Since these standards specify what children need to know and be able to do, the challenge for teachers is to plan instruction to help children develop the needed skills and understanding. Then, assessing how well they have met those standards naturally follows.
