ABSTRACT

In addition to these basic injuries, other events occur when enough sharp force is applied to bone. One of these is fracture lines. Although hoop fractures are unlikely, lines have been observed radiating from punctures and clefts. These lines are governed by the same rules that apply to those resulting from projectile and blunt trauma; that is, they spread outward from the point of impact, and they usually stop at previously existing lines (including other fractures as well as sutures).
