ABSTRACT

The terms science and politics are from two different worlds. Science is about exploring the unknown, proving hypothesis and finding answers to age-old problems. Politics, on the other hand, is about using power, making public decisions and seeking the common good. On the surface there seems to be little similarity between science and politics-one is precise and disciplined whereas the other is messy and unpredictable. Yet despite their inherent differences, the scientific and political worlds are increasingly interconnected. The scientific community seeks to advance the knowledge of the unknown

and find new ways to improve people’s lives. However, scientific discoveries or initiatives can at times create moral and political dilemmas that require government action.
