ABSTRACT
Tumult is indeed an appropriate word to describe the political environment in the United States as Americans express their opinions, advance their causes and seek to bring change. The issue arena in the American political system is expansive and dynamic, with a range of highly charged concerns that often reflect a public that has firm beliefs and passionate resolve. It is not an exaggeration to claim that the United States as a nation is in a constant state of political debate as Americans air their differences and accent their divisions with stunning regularity.
