ABSTRACT

Psychology remains a theoretical discipline so long as it answers the questions “what?” “when?” and “why?” It becomes a practical field when it starts searching for some specific answers to the question, “How to apply?” For example, how can one teach effectively in culturally diverse classrooms, use western therapies in non-Western settings, advertise products to particular ethnic groups, or reduce prejudice? Psychologists try to find some concrete answers to these and many other questions related to human interaction in diverse cultural settings. It is an applied field that can provide helpful information for thousands of professionals working in medicine, psychotherapy, education, community services, business, sports, and many other areas of life (Chung, Bemak, & Talleyrand, 2007).
