ABSTRACT

THE TRIAL OF THE CENTURY . . . AT THE TIME In the early hours of July 4, 1954, Marilyn Sheppard was brutally murdered in her Bay Village, Ohio, home. Her husband Sam claimed that an intruder attacked his wife while he slept on the couch downstairs. He asserted that he awoke to the sounds of the attack but when he entered the room he was hit from behind. He tried to pursue someone escaping from the house but was unsuccessful. Sam called neighbors who came over, then called the police in their Cleveland suburb.
