ABSTRACT
This chapter outlines the basic steps of judicial procedure at the trial and the appellate levels, paying particular attention to those steps at which a trial court is routinely called upon to make rulings that may be challenged on appeal. The appellate review of such rulings is the substance of most of the decisions and opinions that appear in legal case books.
