ABSTRACT

In the previous chapter, we discussed the role of the clinical psychologist in psychological assessment as well as the purposes of assessment in practice and research. Chapters 7 and 8 will provide descriptions and critical evaluations of the many tools available to the clinical psychologist for assessing individual differences: making diagnoses, formulations, and treatment recommendations and tracking progress in therapy. This chapter will discuss one particular type of clinical assessment, namely, the psychodiagnostic assessment and the techniques and tools used to conduct this kind of assessment.
