ABSTRACT

This chapter examines which standards will be most effective in improving data use, and for which areas. Some standards will be easier for people to implement than others, based on their unique circumstances, such as people's staff resources where report creation is concerned; and their data system's technological ability to accommodate a standard. People provide data systems/reports that adhere to best practices for reporting data to educators; and the educators provide a data use climate that supports staff and the ongoing professional development and guidance data users need. Both edtech providers and educator leaders have done what is in their power to make data easy to use and understand. Making data work for educators takes a team effort, and students suffer if either side drops the ball. The chapter focuses on data-using educators and most importantly students impacted by data-informed decisions.
