ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of different stress management techniques and interventions at individual as well as organizational levels. It present stress management techniques that have been developed to help employees overcome their stress symptoms before they progress and before professional help becomes necessary. The main goal of cognitive behavior therapy is to reduce stress by conducting stress management interventions. Yoga is a special form of movement-based meditation that has been introduced as a relaxation technique for stress management. Furthermore, a pilot study by explored whether a brief stress management session would reduce acute distress and buffer physiological responses i.e., salivary assays of cortisol (sCORT) and alpha-amylase (sAA) to a social stress test. If these interventions are unsuccessful in the long run, it is necessary to modify current interventions until they successfully help reduce stress in the workplace, and to prevent mental health issues from worsening.
