The Probability of Participation in Recreational Fishing
The first choice in the individual's chain of decisions about recreational
fishing, as outlined in chapter 1, is whether or not to do some fishing.
This decision logically precedes the decisions of what species of fish to
seek and how much time to spend per year seeking them. This chapter
discusses the modeling of the fishing participation decision using logit
and ordinary least squares (OLS) binary choice models.1
