ABSTRACT

The theme of this session is The Future U.S. Role in World Forest Resource Trade. Obviously, there are a variety of factors that can affect the future trading role of the United States. One development that is not yet well recognized as having the near term potential to importantly affect U.S. trade in forest products, and indeed to influence the worldwide structure of forest products trade, is the creation of exotic forest plantations newly located in regions that have not traditionally been important producers and exporters.
