Smart capabilities

A smart business is a business that uses smart capabilities. A smart capability is an action performed in order to thrive in a digitized world. Smart ports, smart ships, smart cargo and smart shipping routes utilize smart port capabilities, smart ship capabilities, smart cargo capabilities and smart shipping route capabilities, respectively. Few ports have energy management strategies that are centered on port land-use planning, terminal design and operation, equipment operations and energy supply and delivery. The Port of Genoa is one of the few ports that have developed an energy plan in relation to its environmental plan. Ports may be affected by extreme weather conditions that are detrimental to port operations. Smart ports may have smart systems for forecasting and monitoring extreme weather conditions that might impact their ports and be used, in turn, by the ports to take actions for reducing the harmful events of the extreme port weather conditions.
