ABSTRACT
This chapter offers an overview of existing attempts towards triangulation in corpus-based translation studies. It identifies two main types: one involving the combination of different types of corpora and one consisting of the combination of quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis. It highlights their advantages and limitations and concludes that previous studies constitute mostly an ad hoc combination of corpus types and methods. This justifies the need for a guided and principled account of how the concepts of triangulation can be applied to corpus-based research, which can act as a general model explaining all the different combinations.
