ABSTRACT

Unconscious intelligence has systems that actively seek dialogue with consciousness through dreams. Feedback from dreams on important decisions depends on whether the decisions are taken seriously. Dreams about female initiation may anticipate a young woman’s urges to have a baby and symbolize a spiritual longing at the same time. In modern societies the age of transitioning from childhood into adult life is considerably delayed when compared with that of indigenous peoples. As a rule, in connection with important life transitions, one or more dreams will present themselves that provide particularly representative images of the dreamer’s most pressing problems. The menstrual cycle, pregnancy and delivery are very closely tied to female identity. In the premenstrual phase there is a tendency towards more dreams with negative emotions like aggression, fear, depression and confusion, plus dreams about unlucky or unhappy events. During pregnancy–especially for first-timers–there are an unusual number of anxiety-filled dreams and nightmares.
