R osa’s parents were part of a growing community of communist idealists whose search for a better life and a better world took them to the cradle of the revolution, the Soviet Union. It was an excited and exciting expatriate community which believed, with all its youthful, passionate heart, that it was in at the birth of a new world order which would sweep aside the cruelties and injustices of the old.
