ABSTRACT
Pacific islands is customarily divided into three major regions: Melanesia; Microne sia, and Polynesia. Culturally related to the Melanesians are the aborigines of Australia. In the present state of our knowledge, which requires sensitivity to far-flung relationships, some parts of the Philippines and Indonesia, as well as as pects of Korea, Japan, and Siberia, are also significant.
