ABSTRACT

In his seminar, Professor Weiss summarized the history of views that have been held of the individual, as private and as public. He held that this issue is very much at the heart of the question of an ethics or a morality of communication. In the Western world, he pointed out, because we continue to think of man as both a public and a private being, there has always been some ambiguity, some tension. This tension is today being accentuated by students.
