ABSTRACT
As far as I am aware, none of those who have made proposals about the evolution of the human mind, or self, have based these proposals on observations of the development of this kind of consciousness in an individual life. The reasons for this are likely to be several. First, self is a controversial subject. Different definitions of self, lead to different ideas of development. There is no firm background against which to work.
