Intellectual paths of Thailand’s first generation China scholars: a research note on encountering and choices of Khien Theeravit

Prior to the establishment of diplomatic relation between Thailand and the People’s Republic of China (PRC), Chinese studies in Thailand had their ups and downs according to different relevant factors, both internal and external. Incidents such as the 14 October 1973 Incident1 and the change in international politics leading to the 1 July 1975 diplomatic relation establishment between Thailand and PRC greatly affected the academic atmosphere of Chinese Studies in Thailand.
