ABSTRACT
This chapter looks at the history and development of event venues. The chapter focuses on the characteristics of different categories of buildings from purpose-built venues to hospitality providers, academic and sporting venues and the array of unique venues. The chapter will help readers to understand the benefits and challenges of using these different types of spaces as well as future trends in venue development.
