ABSTRACT

Independent private practice can take two forms—completely alone, or alone with others. One could have their own private office space, or one could share an office with others. When working with organizations, it is important to emphasize the bottom-line value of their work, such as how it will impact their ability to increase their revenue or improve their services. Organizational consultation can be divided into three levels: individual, small group, and large systems. Organizational consultants can also work at the small group level. Private practice often affords great flexibility with scheduling, which also demands accountability to oneself to attend to what is important. The idea of a solo private practice can at times seem daunting, especially when one hear the sometimes loud voices of the naysayers who fear stepping out of the security of their salaried jobs. Creatively use the ideas as springboards for establishing their own unique niche services and one will become invaluable to their local community.
