ABSTRACT

After fi nishing the three emotional intelligence (EI) projects reported in the previous three chapters, I was convinced that EI was a worthwhile construct that could be studied scientifi cally. However, one major issue may hinder this line of research. That is, using surveys and questionnaires to measure EI is quite different from our traditional way of assessing intelligence. To measure intelligence or ability, many scholars think that it is more appropriate to use a performance test instead of self-report questionnaire items.
