ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the leadership development portfolio. The purpose of the portfolio is for people to better understand and take control of their own learning and development as a leader. There are seven sections to people's portfolio. They are (1) Personal statement on leadership; (2) Essay on people's leadership learning trajectory during college; (3) Resume ready statements of jobs, positions, and experiences that they had; (4) A summary of people's accomplishments, competencies, and skills; (5) people's accomplishment stories; (6) Artifact/documentation collection; and (7) Additional sections as necessary. The artifact collection serves three purposes. First, it serves as a repository for all things leadership learning and development. Second, it is a memory prompt for what people did and when. And third, people can use it to learn and demonstrate people's own leadership change, development, learning, etc.
