ABSTRACT

This chapter incorporates a number of different activities and apps. Some activities are focused entirely on apps, whilst others use the mobile device in conjunction with other physical resources. The chapter talks about a school visit to a museum that may be used as a framework to support a fictional museum the teacher creates as a class. It presents a number of ideas, activities and apps to support the building of a digital museum. Museums need objects to display, whether they are paintings or physical objects. Activities like this provide meaningful cross-curricular opportunities. Once the object is made, a camera tool is used to photograph it. The children can write a description of their artefact in the PrimaryPad. Using Book Creator, the children can create a brochure which parents will download at certain key places as they tour the museum. Every good museum needs a video introduction that showcases what visitors can expect as they tour around the museum.
