ABSTRACT

To the best of our knowledge, the manuscript is the first of its kind to bring a consolidated multi-disciplinary and multi-service perspective on perinatal mental health in the military family. The completion of this manuscript was a multi-disciplinary effort between Army, Navy and Air Force health care providers, DoD civilian employees and perinatal experts such as Dr. Singly and Dr. Edwards willing to dedicate time and energy to increase awareness. The mission of the military health care is readiness, jointness and value. The women's health care providers need to seek proactively education on topics of mental health in their population as well as promote the development and sustainment of case managers in the clinics who can see patients and families on the spot. Behavioral health providers, especially prescribing providers, need to be familiar with evidence-based treatments for perinatal mood.
