ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at how creativity is defined and examines a couple of terms that are essential to better understanding creativity. One way to begin understand creativity is to look at the historical aspects of creativity, examining those famous people who were considered to be creative, often focusing our attention on the arts or on scientists/inventors. Developing the creativity of individuals will have a long-lasting effect on the health of society at large, benefits that are in addition to improving the well-being of each individual. Control possible outcomes and that might limit creativity. People can be creative in almost any situation, but the outcome and scale of that creativity will vary. Most people use pencils and have used them in a number of different ways. In general, scientists believe that creative ideas are sparked when different parts of the brain interact, generating a new "idea."
