ABSTRACT

One of the biggest challenges people face as educators is how to use technology to support the educational requirements of students in a global, uncertain and digitally connected world. In order to help their progression and survival, people need to seek good pedagogically grounded approaches to using technology that enable our students to learn, unlearn and relearn throughout their lives. The proposed heuristic model is a step towards scoping the areas that need to be considered when investigating teaching with technology. While people accept that the model is yet to be tested in a formal sense, its components are drawn from existing research in the field. The gap between research and practice in the use of technology in teaching is a problem that appears to be systemic across higher education. Scholarly approaches to teaching with technology are organisational change, quality enhancement, continuing professional development, curriculum development, student development are explained here.
