ABSTRACT

The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.

How do you assess Genius Hour? Well, everything worth doing is worth assessing and reflecting on, so we need to consider the importance of formative and self-assessment in Genius Hour. How do we arrange for our students to give and receive feedback that moves them forward into their future learning? (See Figure 6.1 for a handy feedback infographic.) If assessment is going to happen honestly and safely, we feel that grading should not be part of Genius Hour learning.
