ABSTRACT

Shadowing the structure used in chapters five and six on Argentina and Brazil, next is an introduction to the mode of governance of the United States of America (USA), its population and education system, and the characteristics of the State of California in particular. Then, the chapter presents the California Adult Education System at a time when it was under major reorganisation. On this ground, the chapter disentangles a multifaceted narrative to stress whether and how local actions in adult education connect with national governance and global networking.
