ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses on the scenes and sequences need to be designed to advance the story in a screenplay. A scene is a piece of action that takes place in one location. The sequence sheet is a list, scene by scene, of how the screen story will unfold. The chapter presents a tool for the writer to use to help focus his story and to make sure each scene helps accomplish the goal of the sequence. Working with a sequence sheet can help the writer keep his story on track. As the writer thinks of other scenes or sequences that need to be included, she can add them to the sequence sheet. The chapter discusses an eleven step story structure to keep the sequence sheet on track. Building a story with the necessary sequences will help the writer ensure his story will advance and not get lost along the way.
