ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses on the dramatic question, theme and point of view of a screenplay. The dramatic question is the main question posed by the story and should be specific to the protagonist. It helps to focus, to remember the basic question that needs to be answered in the script. Theme is the unifying moral, philosophical, or emotional assumption that the writer is exploring in his story. Themes usually revolve around identifiable human needs and desires. A writer should try to explore his/her theme as well as the anti-theme. Sometimes it is the desire to explore a certain theme that draws a writer to construct a story. The theme, in most cases, will emerge as he writes. If it doesn't, the writer needs to investigate his personal point of view on the situation and characters. A story is made more unique and original when the writer instills his own point of view on the material.
