ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses on the act one of a screenplay. Using the eleven step story structure helps to fashion act one of a screenplay and its need to accomplish many things. The chapter gives some suggestions to be followed in act one. It is good to start the script close to the inciting incident. It should be made sure that the overriding genre of the story is clear. The act one should set up the protagonist's normal life and his or her overall need and should explore various areas of the protagonist's life and ways to illuminate character and story. Using the eleven steps builds the character arc and gives the story shape. It is not only enough to make sure each sequence or scene has an action one has to make sure that the story has an active feel behind it.
