ABSTRACT

Fatherhood is a complex phenomenon that is narrowly embedded in the proximal family system. Therefore, research on fatherhood involves much more than just the father himself. For a considerable time now, there has been evidence of spillover processes between the couple relationship and the parent-child relationship (Erel & Burman, 1995). Moreover, there seem to be crossover processes such that the marital satisfaction of one partner influences the parenting practices of the other partner.
