ABSTRACT
London provides a rich milieu to investigate the usefulness of the assessment framework with its global status. The research investigated three projects: King's Cross ('KX'), Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park ('QEOP') and Nine Elms ('9E'). King's Cross ('KX') is a £1 billion plus, iconic mixed-use central London regeneration project, anchored on two historical railway stations and the British Library. In the Victorian era, KX was an important industrial neighbourhood and transport hub. Its central position linked the commercial East of the city with West End retail and entertainment precincts. For KX, the Argent Group board monitored performance. Arup managed the operational side of the project and oversaw engineers and other practitioners. The London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) ran QEOP single-handed and owns most of the venues. For 9E a Strategy Board included leaders of councils and landowners.
