ABSTRACT

Domination and submission are common quirky behaviours, which are widespread in the population. Quirky sexual behaviour is technically called a 'paraphilia'. If somebody do not want the quirky script, or if the script hinders and harms their relationships, then they have a problem. If one's behaviours stray into the coercive and abusive, the chapter suggests that he immediately ring up a skilled psychosexual therapist to help him deal with these problems. Alongside most quirky scripts, there can be a range of problems. These include mood disorders, substance abuse problems, depression and high levels of anxiety. Some would say that the best treatment for an unwanted quirky script is a combination of group work, individual work and medication. It is well known that the anti-depressant medications selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) frequently reduce sexual need and desire.
