ABSTRACT

Being surrounded by people you feel safe and comfortable with, and connected to, provides a strong foundation for confidence and wellbeing (Diener and Seligman, 2004). A community is where people get to know each other and learn to accept differences. In a strong community, people do not feel judged and can be who they are even

if that means they are far from perfect and do not always meet the group norms. Ideally, support is readily available in a community, and empathy, relationships and connections bind it and are inclusive of everyone.
