ABSTRACT

In order to demonstrate a directional antenna system is in compliance with the terms of its Federal Communications Commission (FCC) station license, a proof-of-performance is required. A means of accurately locating suitable measuring points in conformance with FCC requirements is required for proper measurements. The non-directional and directional proofs of performance will demonstrate compliance with the terms of Construction Permit through a series of two sets of field strength measurements. They are field strength measurements using the non-directional antenna for reference and set of measurements using the same measurement points with the antenna system operating in the directional mode. The directional measurements are mathematically referenced to the non-directional measurements to demonstrate compliance with the terms of the Construction Permit. The measurements beyond the initial 3-km "walk-out" measurements will be repeated on the directional pattern(s). A means of accurately locating suitable measuring points in conformance with FCC requirements is required for proper measurements.
