ABSTRACT
Power conditioning starts with a properly designed, flexible, robust, well-maintained electrical system, which must be sustainable for the intended use. The installation of additional equipment to compensate for an electrical system that is unsustainable is a recipe for disaster. The installation of backup power systems can be as basic as simple battery backup systems and equipment or as complete as backup generation devices. Broadcast facilities should have a high level of utility outage protection. A significant consideration of "standby" is that the equipment you are trying to protect is plugged into the alternating current power source with very minimal surge protection and filtration. Standby battery Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is the low-cost and not necessarily the best option in battery UPS. Motor-generator sets have been used successfully in power-quality applications for decades. The standby UPS is the least expensive, most available and common type of battery UPS.
