ABSTRACT

Secondly, employing indicators as part of an overall assessment of social resilience raises methodological questions about how to assess thresholds of resilience (Christensen & Krogman, 2012; Davidson, 2010). At what point can communities and regions be considered socially resilient? The relative bearing of different indicators on actual social resilience and the interplay between different indicators and thresholds remains poorly defined. The interplay of resilience factors across spatial scales (e.g., individual, household and community/region) is also not well understood.
