ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses epistemological principles that are involved in the reality construction to gather relevant and trustworthy insight. The integration of communication in the reality construction intermingles with the distinction between practical knowledge and theoretical knowledge. In times of change, truth differences are constantly generated and an organisation must therefore cope with the reality. A scientific approach for creative development of concepts and theories is based on reflection and insight, and hence rejection of dogmatic attitudes. The skill of working with concepts, to analyse the possibilities of the various layers and their interplay under new conditions, can be enhanced by advanced learning, education and training. Working with conceptual borders can create conceptual illusions in several ways. Without training in conceptual reflection, actors may find themselves in a situation where it is difficult for them to maintain exclusivity of concepts and they become unable to distinguish cognitively between those objects that do and those that do not fall within a concept.
