ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the French experience that they followed very closely and enriched by the other participating partners' experiences, reported in national reports. The chapter analyses with regard to the French institutional context of a national education trying to grant equality of chances and making the fight against discrimination an essential mission but struggling with structural data. It assesses the contribution of the e-EAV project to a better understanding of the functioning of media. The e-EAV project is then an important step towards the introduction of the fight against discrimination within classes and lectures, while increasing awareness among the teachers themselves. In the European context, the e-EAV programme created an interesting opportunity to develop MIL and to fight against discriminatory speeches since it matches the official aims defined by the National education as well as the European Union itself and because it offers complementary approaches to existing devices.
