ABSTRACT
The 2009 Bollywood film Delhi-6 centers on Roshan, a young IndianAmerican who accompanies his grandmother on a visit back to their ancestral neighborhood in Old Delhi. There, he encounters a cast of characters who introduce him to the complexity of modern India. Roshan’s love interest is the charismatic Bittu, who scorns him as an American outsider. Bittu, meanwhile, dreams of trading her life in Delhi for one of glamor and success in Mumbai, a shift she hopes to effect through the highly popular music television show, Indian Idol.
