Apple is the world's most valuable company, maker of the world's best-selling smartphone. A panel of tech reporters in a talk show said complaints about the device that Apple had not created a map application for its mobile software, and their disdain for the purple hue that discolored photographs of the sun. Others protested that the device scratched easily, and was too light and delicate. The goals of digital media literacy education go beyond the ability to see the bias and holes in corporate, mainstream, and tech reporting. Greenpeace praises Apple for reducing use of conflict minerals. The narrative on conflict minerals presented by Apple and corporate news media was muddied by a report Apple filed with the U.S. The members of SACOM conducted undercover research at three Apple suppliers involved in producing iPhone 5C and iPhone 6, and interviewed 103 workers. It reported that workers are often labored as much as twelve to fifteen hours per day.
