ABSTRACT

The humanitarian consulting firm's social impact is an insightful case study through which to examine how humanitarian work psychology (HWP) positively impacted MDG-based social change initiatives across the globe. While Social Impact's HWP reach is clearly broad, in order to yield the most in-depth discussion possible, this chapter focuses on three projects centered on the MDGs that are arguably most well-represented by Social Impact's work. It also examines on Social Impact's Initiative to End Hunger in Africa (IEHA) program evaluation, identifying research supporting these processes from an I-O psychological framework, and how this facilitates the achievement of MDG1. As such, the chapter will finally discusses on how Social Impact facilitated more effective accomplishment of MDGs 4, 5, and 6 through the implementation of I-O psychological principles via the Global Health Professional and Organizational Development (GHPOD) program. Social Impact's goals focused on improving the organizational effectiveness of the program, and building the performance management capacity of the Bureau for Global Health.
